Yellow Rattle Card
Rhinanthus crista-galli
Also known as Hay Rattle, this bright yellow plant is often found on fertile, low-lying grassy plains known as Machair; the best examples can be found in the Outer Hebrides. Flowering between June and September, Yellow Rattle helps other species to thrive by restricting grass growth, especially when traditional hay-making methods are used. The original watercolour was painted by Sophia in 1909 after discovery 'about Wytham' in Oxfordshire.
Our rectangular cards measure 130mm x 175mm and are left blank for your own personal message. Sophia's original watercolour is carefully reproduced on 320gsm Vellum Ivory card and comes complete with a bespoke 135gsm mid green, peel-and-seal envelope.
